SUBJECT : Call for Research Proposals on “Stem Cell Research”
The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) invites research and development proposals from the scientists, groups/ individuals working in Research Institutions, Universities and Medical Colleges in areas of “Stem Cells”. The purpose of programme is to expand the stem cell research in the country by creating collaborative network of basic researchers and clinicians. Some of the identified areas are:
Basic Research
-
Study of factors that generate stem cells and how stem cells can be stopped from proliferation.

Study of biology of stem cells.

Studies of expansion of haematopoietic stem cells without differentiation.

Study of gene transduction, gene regulation and plasticity of stem cells.
Applied Research
-
City clusters for stem cell research involving basic researchers and clinicians.

Focused, targeted programmes on human stem cell research as tools for stem cell thereby as per requirement of plastic surgeons, cardiologists, neurosurgeons, orthopaeditions and others.

Use of embryonic stem cells for drug testing.
Facilities
The scientists / clinicians with necessary expertise in stem cell research may submit project proposals with specific aims and objectives on DBT’s format available at DBT’s websites www.dbtindia.org OR www.dbtindia.nic.in. Multi-centric / multi-investigators projects could be preferred with proper milestones and time schedules. The project proposals may be sent to the Adviser (Medical), Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Block No.-2 (8th floors), C.G.O Complex, Lodi Road, New Delhi – 110003.
