Subject :   Call for Research proposals on “Animal Nutrition”

The Department of Biotechnology invites research and development proposals from scientists, groups / individuals in the area of “Animal Nutrition”.  Some of the identified broad areas where biotechnological tools can be exploited to improve the efficiency of utilization of feed and fodder are : (a) Genetic manipulation of rumen microbial ecosystem for improving productivity and protecting environment., (b) Identification of genes for better feed conversion of agro-byproducts (lignin, oil cakes, oil meals, cellulose etc.)., (c)Microbial feed additives (Probiotics) for enrichment of feed quality., (d) Use of fibrolytic enzymes in feed to improve digestibility and nutritive value and (e)Genetically modified silage bacteria.
 

Product related discovery science and product development will both be considered.  Effective interdisciplinary partnership and public sector linkages will be considered an asset.  Innovative proposals from industry will also be entertained.
